No-Spill™ drain plugs are available in over 500 different sizes and thread patterns. No-Spill™ Systems makes oil drain plugs in UNF, UNS, UNC, BSW, Metric, BSP, and NPT thread patterns. Custom sizes are also available. The photo below shows our standard large bottom(LB) drain plug and one of our standard small bottom(SB) drain plugs.
Generally, the make and model number of the engine, transmission, or other piece of equipment will determine what size of drain plug you need. Occasionally, the year of manufacture could also be a factor in determining size. In rare cases, the serial number of the piece of equipment will have to be obtained and the equipment manufacturer or dealer will need to be contacted. If none of these options yield the size, the original drain plug will have to be removed and measured.
Oil drain plug diameter is best measured in millimeters using digital calipers. Measure the width of the plug across the base of the plug, at the widest part of the threads.
Thread pitch is either the number of threads per inch (SAE) or the distance between the threads in millimeters (Metric). You must use a thread pitch gauge to measure the thread pitch.
Taking an oil sample with No-Spill™ drain plugs is quick, clean, and easy. Simply attach the No-Spill™ Sampler to the oil drain plug and take as much of a sample as you need.
