Draining oil while it’s hot extends engine life and improves performance. This is because it assures that various contaminants are flushed out with the oil at each fluid change rather than accumulating in the oil pan.
Accumulations of “sludge” in the oil pan, due to repeated cold draining may initially slow down drain time when you switch to draining hot.
Draining hot is more efficient because it speeds the rate of evacuation, especially when gravity draining.
